Sara Bareillis Quote #2

"I'm never gonna be somebody who's gonna fall down from the sky on a trapeze. That's not me. I really want to make sure that my focus stays on connecting with the audience."

Sara Bareillis Quote #1-

For Sara Bareillis fans out there...we'll be posting some of her quotes for the next week or so....then move on to another artist.

" I have been influenced by many different artists at many different stages of my life. Starting out, it was people like Elton John, Billy Joel, Ben Folds, and Fiona Apple.  As I got older I got deeper into the work of bands like the Beatles, artists like Same Cooke, Ray Chalres, Etta James, and Joni Mitchell."   -Sara Bareillis

For all the Musicians in my Life- June 21st

                      It's World Music Day!

Music Day is a connected set of free public events which takes place each year on the 21st June. Last year there were events in 108 countries and 726 cities around the world, not including France where there were too many events to count!

The event is also known as FĂȘte de la Musique (www.fetedelamusique.culture.fr) (or World Music Day) and originated in France in 1982. Since then the idea has spread across the globe with each event holding to the same simple set of principles: that the day is held on the mid-summer solstice and that all concerts and events are free and accessible to the public.
Make Music New York is a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year, with over 1,200 concerts on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the five boroughs. http://makemusicny.org/about/overview/

Your Rhapsody Saves Me

                           © 2015 by Linda Maran

Dodging crowds in the subway,
rushing and huffing at my fruitless try.
Hands playing an old guitar
catch the corner of my eye.

The notes dance around me, rising above the din.
He meets my gaze and we both smile…
that realized moment when I let the beauty in.
Given for free…his rhapsody saved me.

(chorus)
Never underestimate the power of your song.
Sweet lyrics riding melodies into a heart,
tames the inner pain from breaking it apart.

Dodging church on a Sunday,
guarding dried up prayers from doors opened wide.
Angelic singing echoes out
beckons to draw me inside.

The core of their voices reaching high and so true.
A glance my way and we both smile…
that sacred moment when my soul longed to renew.
Offered for free…their rhapsody saved me.

(chorus)
Never underestimate the power of your song
Sweet lyrics riding melodies into a heart,
tames the inner pain from breaking it apart.

Your rhapsody saves me.
